Help !Lexmark printer is installed ok but nothing spools to it ??

PC is running XP, printer drivers installed ok, PC knows its there and says it is working. Cannot spool anything to it from any program, not even a test page. Checked Windows security, all Lexmark programs are there in exception list (I think). Printer does print the hardware test ok. Any help please welcome.
