Dead Space Scariness?

I'm talking about the first Dead Space. I played the second one, and it wasn't really scary. But the only thing that scared me was Nicole's ghost appearing out of nowhere. Her face and cloths are filled with blood, and her face is kinda purple. She also has lights flashing out of her mouth and eyes. Is there ANYTHING like that in Dead Space 1? I don't care about the gores and monsters popping out of nowhere. PLEASE HELP ME STOP PISSIN' MY PANTS!!
