Is it such a bad thing for someone not like attention?

Any kind of it? They don't like when people are interested in them or their lives, they don't know how to react when people put them on the spot, they don't like to be the center of attention, they really dislike when an entire room focuses on them.. Is this a bad thing? I'm like that all the time. My friends always like to sing me happy birthday, stuff like that in huge crowds, that way everyone can sing for me, But I always end up being more annoyed/embarred, than overjoyed. Should I talk to someone about that haha?
